Sevastopol (from 1783 to 1784 and from 1797 to 1826 - Akhtiar) is a city in the south-west of the Crimean peninsula, on the Black Sea coast. Non-freezing sea trading and fishing port, industrial, scientific and technical, recreational, cultural and historical center. He bears the title of "Hero City". The main naval base of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation is located in Sevastopol. The city of Sevastopol is included in the list of historical settlements of federal significance in Russia and in the list of historical settlements in Ukraine.
The territory of the city borders in the northeast on the Republic of Crimea, and in the southeast - on the territory of the urban district of Yalta. The area of the city is 863.6 km².
